From Telecommunications Consultants to a Next Generation Carrier

Suburban was incorporated in Nigeria in 1999 as a consulting, research, development and equipment provider.  The founders of the company believe in the West African market and believe that if infrastructure was deployed in the region, people would use it and benefit from it in myriad ways.

People tend to desire similar things on a global scale. As the world becomes a global village, people devise another means of communication. They would like to move with the global trends”-Bruce Ayonote, CEO

Based on their consulting experience within Nigeria and their experience in Europe and the US, the founders envisioned Suburban as a pioneer who would initiate the modernization of telecommunications infrastructure in the region and grow to establish itself as the leading alternative telecommunications carrier in West Africa.

Suburban today is present in most segments of the telecommunications value chain, ranging from the supply of wholesale connectivity and storage services to retail internet and data solutions. This evolution is strategic as well as tactical. However the company’s ambition remains the same as when it all began – to transform telecommunications in the region. Today, Suburban is the largest company of its kind in West Africa and its experience and core assets will enable the company to take its ambition to global heights.
